It’s Easy

It can take place any time of day

Your toothbrushing session can take place at any time which is most suitable for your classroom. It can be tailored around your class’s daily routine and is sometimes used as a method for calming children down after playtime, when excitement is often running high.

It’s not messy

Children brush their teeth during small group/circle time for 2 minutes in a dry area. There is no need for any water on the toothbrush first and children use paper towels to get rid of  excess toothpaste after brushing, helping to keep things as mess-free as possible!

It supports the curriculum

You are provided with everything

We provide you with all the supplies that you need to carry out the programme, including toothbrushes, toothbrush racks, toothpastes and all the information you need to be able to successfully run the programme. This includes a comprehensive toolkit to guide you through the process. We also supply each child with their own free home pack, which contains a toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste and information to take home and use with parents or guardians.

Full support and training

Big Brush Club delivers training to you directly. We show you how to carry out the supervised toothbrushing sessions and help you tailor these to fit around your specific routine, setting and cohort. You have the full support of a facilitator who you can contact for advice and assistance at any point during the programme.  We are happy to offer further support also, for example, if you wanted to give a lesson about healthy teeth or visiting the dentist, we can help you with this too.

Educational resources on-hand

Our toolkit contains lots of resources such as information letters for parents and guardians, posters for your classroom, and reward charts to enable the children to track their progress. You can also access further resources on our website which have been specifically selected for use by early years leaders. We have a great page for families to visit and learn more about the supervised toothbrushing programme, as well as the importance of children’s oral health and how to support brushing at home.

Children enjoy Big Brush Club

Children often look forward to Big Brush Club and make it a positive part of their day. The children celebrate each other’s brushing achievements by completing a reward chart and can brush in time to their favourite song. By brushing together, it gives the children a sense of unity and achievement.

It’s free!

All of this is delivered to your setting for no charge. You can make a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of the children in your care without any financial burden to your school or nursery.
